Happy Birthday to my Baby Boy!

Happy First Birthday Owen! I cannot believe a year has gone by since the day we fist got to see and hold our sweet Owen! He is so precious and we love him so much! Owen is such a happy boy, and brings so much joy to Adam and me! My mom and I were talking yesterday about how when Owen was just days old he would just stare up at us and looked like he was going to cry. He was just so new to the world and hadn't adjusted yet. But he is happy, smart, and loving! Adam and I have learned a lot as parents, everything was so new! And we are so blessed because we know how much Owen loves us as we watch him try to touch our pictures throughout the house as he sees them, and says "mama" and "Dah!", among other very sweet, priceless moments we enjoy with our beautiful little boy! We love you Owen! Happy Birthday!

Catch up on tags...

I was tagged by Lauren and Tera a while ago-and then by Melissa, so here it goes:

6 quirks about me.

RULES:-Link the person who tagged you-List 6 of your quirks-Tag 6 other bloggers-List the rules on your blog

1. I hate to see closet doors , or cupboards ajar when no one is around using the closet/cupboard. If they're in use it doesn't bother me, but if I walk in the room and it's just sitting open I have to go close it, even in other people's houses. I just walk over casually while talking or something and close it if no one is using it.

2. I cannot miss a single night of washing my face! I hate that feeling of waking up with my make up on. Plus I was taught in beauty school that your face ages faster if you do not wash your face before sleeping, so that plays in my head if I try to skip a night.

3. It bothers me when Owen has anything coming out of his nose, or when he has any wax in his ear, or when his face is dry. I feel bad for my little guy, but I'm always picking, or wiping at him.

4. I am VERY picky about how my clothes are dried after being washed. I have to be the one to say if something goes in the dryer or not. And if it doesn't, then I have to be the one to hang it up. I have to make sure each piece of clothing is on the correct hanger, or laid flat to dry, so that it will dry in a nice shape. I think my mom learned this when I was in high school and now, when Adam tries to help me hang things up, he is not surprised to look over a second later, and see me re-hanging something on a different hanger, or taking it off a hanger and laying flat.

5. If anyone ever starts crying around me I usually start to cry, even if it's for a silly reason. I work with a girl that starts crying over almost everything. Like if she's talking about a movie, or anything about the church-even if it's a good thing-she starts crying, and I usually start to tear up with her. But more than anything, I cry if any of my sisters or my mom starts crying. I know, I'm really sensitive.

6. I guess you could say I'm kind of an aggressive driver. I've tried to tone it down with having to drive a little one around, but I just get irritated very easily when driving. It was the very worst when I would have to drive to and from hair school (in provo) everyday. The freeways get backed up for no reason at all! My parents would remind me everyday to slow down, and be careful. But I've been pulled over many times, been given multiple speeding tickets, and I hate to say it, but I've been in multiple accidents. I'm sorry mom and dad for making my insurance always go up, but I've learned my lesson, and I'm doing a lot better!

1. My wonderful husband is taking me to see Twilight that Friday that it comes out! He is so great for wanting to take me! This is one of the reasons I can tell he loves me, because there are going to be some CRAZY fans there, and I'm a little worried about that myself!

2. I love to kiss Owen's soft little cheeks! He has had those cute cheeks since the day he was born, and I love them!

3. I love Autumn! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I especially enjoy watching Christmas movies! "White Christmas", "A Muppet's Christmas Carol", "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown(or what ever it's called), you name it, and I love it!

4. For the last week, or so, if we take Owen outside, and he hears dogs barking he says, "Daw!" Not only that, but the other day I asked him,"Owen who says woof, woof, woof?" and he replies, "Daw!" So he just needs that g on the end, and he's got it!

5. Adam and Owen LOVE each other, and just love to play! Everytime Adam leaves the room, Owen waits for him to come back and the first thing he does is growl at Adam(that's their little game. They growl at each other and Owen loves it!), or says "Dah!". They're so cute!

6. Owen has started to like watching shows a little bit more, and I cannot stand hearing some of theses children's shows! For example: The Doodle Bops, Yo Gabba Gabba, and I found a new one today, The Hoobs on Sprout! I guess they catch the kids' attention, but they are just too annoying for me to listen to! Sorry Owen but there a plenty of cute little shows out there, and we'll stick with those!

These Days!

Owen has been catching on to new things everyday, as usual, and I want to be able to remember what he was doing when I look back at his last weeks before he is 1 year old!

He is trying to walk a lot more! We catch him figuring out that he can get from one toy to another by walking. It's so fun to watch his face after he makes it without falling to his different destinations!

Owen is also jibber-jabbing non-stop. I love this because it's like he's trying to tell me what he is thinking or feeling. Today we went outside when it was snowing, and he had a lot to say about that! He loved the snow coming down on his hands and face, and had the biggest grin as he was voicing his excitement!

Another fun thing that Owen has figured out from watching me get ready day after day is how to brush his hair, and my hair. He is so cute!

I found Owen on the baker's rack the other day! He is not afraid to climb anywhere, or out of anything. When we were grocery shopping last week he wiggled his way out of the straps that keep them in the cart! We'll have to strap him in extra tight from now on!

I love this little boy so much, and am so grateful to spend everyday with him!

Halloween!

This was Owen's First Halloween and I was excited to see how my wild man would react to the festivities. On Thursday we had trick or treating at BCI for the kids, so we took Owen and he didn't know what was going on, really, but he was so funny! I found this idea for a spider costume from Martha Stewart.com. I didn't know how well it would turn out, or if Owen would be annoyed with the legs hanging off of him as he crawled around, but as you can tell he didn't mind. Adam took this short video of him in action!

The kids were so fun to watch! They loved trick or treating! Jack loved reaching into the bowls to grab candy! And Annie would get some candy and then run down the hall, making Lauren chase after her! We all had a good time, and got a lot of sweets!

Then on Halloween night we took Owen to both Grandparent's houses. We had a fun idea to show my Dad, so we dressed Owen in a little white T-shirt with a pocket, and jeans. Before we took him into my Mom and Dad's house Adam smeared some drywall mud on his shirt and pants, and then we went inside with our little Grandpa Laursen! It was a hit, but of course, I forgot my camera! We took some pictures with my parent's camera, so I'll have to get the pictures later and add them.
